When you begin taking ACTEMRA, your rheumatologist may start you on the 4-mg/kg dose, which is the recommended starting dose, and in some cases he or she will prescribe 8 mg/kg. It’s up to your rheumatologist to determine what dose is right for you.
While on ACTEMRA, your rheumatologist will closely monitor your lab test results to see how you’re responding to treatment. There is no set time for a dose adjustment, so keep track of how you’re feeling after each infusion.
If you feel like you’re not getting the level of relief you want, you should talk to your rheumatologist so he or she can decide if an increase of your dose is appropriate. Alternatively, depending on your blood tests, it’s possible your rheumatologist may decrease your dose.
Talk to your rheumatologist if you’re pregnant and taking ACTEMRA.
